Located on 66 Mint Street, Blue Bottle is completely unnoticed.  You have to walk down the small, empty dead end with a mission (to drink at Blue Bottle) to find the store.  There is always a line out the door, but, it is well worth the wait which is about 7 minutes.  The coffee is smooth and rich yet refreshing.  The perfect start to any morning.  They also have a breakfast menu filled with pastries, waffles, french toast and more that blow other coffee stores (*cough cough* starbucks) away if you have the time.  The staff are always in a good mood, ready to answer a question or talk about current events while they prepare you your coffee.

My favorite thing about Blue Bottle (except for the coffee of course) is the atmosphere.  The ceilings are lofted, the decor is simple, there are large windows that let in tons of light, but the best thing about their atmosphere is their tables.  They have a couple individual tables, but the room is dominated by one large table that can host around 15 people.  This is where I like to sit, everyone sitting here is outgoing and ready to have a conversation with you.
The service is pretty good.  The cashier when I was there was a cute, young girl who had a nice smile and was great to everyone.  The server on the other hand was a rushed man who frankly was a little slow and short tempered with customers.  Below is a picture of their Kiosk- along with their cafe they have this kiosk on 315 Linden Street.

I spent 8$ dollars on my breakfast.  3$ for half a siphon pot (I shared with a friend) and 5$ of pastries.  It was on the high scale for a breakfast of that size, but no more then a Starbucks breakfast and much better.

Overall, no matter who you are you will enjoy a Blue Bottle breakfast. The line goes by quickly, especially if you start a conversation with your line mates, the coffee is out-of-this-world, the atmosphere is fun and outgoing, and decor is clean and simple.  The perfect way to get yourself in the right mood to take on a long work day or class schedule.

On a side note, I just found out that the “syphon bar”, the area where they make their syphon pots of coffee is the only such thing in America.  It was imported from Japan at a total cost of more then $20,000.  It took years of discussion with its importer, Jay Egami to convince him to sell it to them-

“If you just want equipment you’re not ready,” Mr. Egami said, but, he added, James Freeman, the owner of Blue Bottle, is different: “He’s invested time. He’s invested interest. He is ready.”

His overdyed button down shirts have become an instant classic- the colors are unique, the buttons are an interesting contrast, the cut drapes perfectly..  They got everything right when designing these shirts.

What I find the most impressive about this brand are their jackets.  They stuck to the classic jackets for this season, but they adding a unique modernity to them that makes them ultra stylish yet timeless.  That mixed with their spotless craftmanship makes them the perfect jacket for any man.  Yes, they might be expensive, but their jackets are pieces that you will get decades of use out of.  Also, if you are looking for a winter coat for the fall that is now full length, I recommend this updated toggle coat. My favorite aspect of the coat is that it is both formal and informal. The toggle closure will look good whether you are going to the beach or out to dinner, the shoulders and sleeves are those of a blazer, and the silk lining will keep you feeling soft all day. Overall, this is one of my favorite coats this year especially if you match it with an amazing pair of khakis like they did here.

If you want to update your wardrobe this year then don’t forget to take a look at Band of Outsiders.  Their shirts will make you look good whether your going out to a club or out to dinner, their jackets will make you look classic and timeless while still adding that prepster factor, and their pants will make you look like you just walked off the runways of Milan.  Also, I love the shoes that the Band of Outsiders / Sperry Topsider collaboration are creating! I need to pick myself up a pair of these!

But once you get a look at his suits, who wouldn’t buy one of these instead of a house. They are absolutely gorgeous- her suits just can’t compete. His ultra chic yet masculine stores are surprisingly homey. They look more like an intimate walk in closet with high end champagne and staff to help you pick out the perfect outfit.

Just one look at this shirt display makes me want to forget about my rent and buy one.  His attention to detail is what makes him a truly fantastic designer and leader.

Ever since his ideas for starting a womenswear collection leaked the whole fashion world has been on their tip toes. Tom is so good at what he does that every move he makes creates earthquakes of thought- just look at Italy’s ban on one of his ads. The Institute for Advertising Self-Discipline declared the ad a “scene (that) evokes an offending and abusive act against women, which degrades the dignity of the person.”   I think it is interesting how Tom wants to make his ad campaign have equal amounts of male and female nudity but where he has no or very little trouble getting his female nudes published he is getting a lot of negative hype about his male ads. What do you think?  Is the ad to vulgar, and, if we allow female nudity in our society should we rethink the taboo male nude?
